Industrial Design

Industrial Design is essential for creating a successful product that communicates its function to its user.

Our Approach

The industrial design process is a crucial element of the early stages of any new product development.  From the beginning, our team of designers is focused on understanding the user of the product to ensure a comfortable, enjoyable, and effective experience.

Once the user needs have been defined, a series of sketches is generated to understand the workflow of a product experience and to produce several options for potential product concepts.  Once a direction has been chosen, our designers may use physical 3D modeling techniques to further evaluate the form and ergonomics of a design.

The product designs are then modeled in 3D software with the necessary level of fidelity.  These 3D models are then used to create 3D printed prototypes and 3D renderings/animations in order to fully evaluate how well the design accomplishes the user’s needs.

This process can be fluid depending on what is learned throughout the various stages. It is the designer’s job to determine which tool will best help develop the final product.

The Eclipse Process
How we work
1
Phase 1
Planning & Research
Strategic in nature, this phase focuses on estimation and projections while at the same time performing necessary research. We study the big picture to make sure we have a complete understanding of what will make your project successful.
2
Phase 2
Concept Development
Ranging from sketches and wireframes to 3D printed models, this phase is where the output of the research and planning is realized into concepts of varying fidelity that support testing and verification.
3
Phase 3
Refinement
Then we focus on the small details - the critical elements that turn a good idea into a profitable business opportunity are refined using the feedback and test data collected in the development phase.
4
Phase 4
Finalization & Delivery
At this point all documentation is finalized and locked down. Then all artifacts are prepared for transfer to the client.
